I’m a traditionally trained sculptor and I’ve been working with my hands and doing art since I was a child. I established my artistic presence in the Midwest and had the chance to work with many talented people there. There came a point where my family and I needed to grow beyond the limits of our surroundings and in 2009 we decided to move to the west coast. Since moving to Southern California I've fabricated weapons, and practical hand props for network television. I've made scale models for award winning animated series and created in camera visual effects. I am a formally trained Sculptor with a BFA and decades of experience fabricating objects and environments. I've worked with other artists, designers, business owners, and international clients helping them create great works of visual art, animated film, television and visually great products for the consumer.
I'm prolific in a variety of both traditional and non-traditional sculpture mediums such as ceramics, bronze casting, mold making, and welding. I also work with 3D Printing, 3D Modeling, Electronics, Arduino Programming (C++), and Robotics. I have an extensive knowledge base and experience in handling many materials. I'm intuitive with hand props as a Props Designer/Fabricator. Since 1998 I’ve been designing and building museum Interactive exhibits and displays, commercial restaurants, modelmaking as well as doing master prop work for theater and film. At the base of it all I’m a master carpenter and have worked in the trades building private homes and renovating kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, bedrooms and commercial spaces.
A great deal of my inspiration is based in traditional process oriented art making. I enjoy telling a story without words using my hands to illustrate concepts and elements of design. Inspiration for me also emanates from the use of new technology and new scientific discoveries. Something very inspiring to me is working with other artists and designers in a group such as a theatrical production or a film toward a common goal. This is perhaps the most inspiring aspect of being an artist and I hope I get the chance to work with you down the road weather you’re an artist, scientist, a writer, producer, magician, technician, or just someone who enjoys the art of living in these times of tumult and change.
